Want signal

A one-tap I want this or not for me, from anyone signed in, with no purchase required.

It exists because reviews cannot solve the cold-start problem. On day one nobody has bought anything, so nobody can review anything, so a maker gets no feedback at all at exactly the moment feedback would be most useful.

A want signal works from the first hour. Optionally it carries a reason, and those reasons are what turn a vote into something a maker can act on: too expensive, not what I need, do not trust it, already have one.

It is deliberately kept apart from ratings. It is shown, it is never averaged into a rating, and it does not drive organic ranking.

Why it matters

It tells a maker what to build, which is a different and earlier question from whether what they built is good.

The mistake everyone makes

Treating it as a rating. A listing can be the most wanted thing on the site and still be bad, and the reverse is just as common.
