Request
A public ask for something that does not exist yet, which other people can vote on.
Anyone can describe a job they want done. Others upvote it, and the board ranks by demand rather than by recency.
Requests come from two places: people writing them directly, and searches that returned nothing. A search with no results is the clearest possible statement of unmet demand, and capturing it turns a dead end into the most useful page on the site for makers.
It is the cheapest market research a maker will ever get, and it is the strongest supply recruitment tool the site has.
Building the top request without reading the comments. The vote count says how many people want something. The comments say whether they meant the same thing.
