Podcastindex MCP CLI
thenavidm · MCP server
Connects your AI assistant to the Podcast Index through 36 tools. It searches podcasts and episodes, reads and searches transcripts where the publisher supplies one, returns chapters, lists trending and recent episodes, finds a person's guest appearances, checks feed health and reads Podcasting 2.0 and value for value data. Two tools add a feed to the index, wait for approval and need a key with write permission, while a third asks for a recrawl with no prompt. An API key and secret are required.

Why it's useful
Your agent can answer questions from what was said in episodes that have a transcript, and from the index's records of shows and feeds.
What you could do with it
- Ask when a guest talked about pricing in an episode and what they said, using its transcript.
- Find fifteen podcasts about indie games that are still publishing.
- Check whether your podcast feed is broken when downloads suddenly drop.
Written from its documentation: what it says it can do, not what our checks found.
Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured
What this does not cover
- Everything. Treat it as you would software from anywhere else.
Receipt history: every signed receipt for every version of this listing, and what changed between them.
In its maker's words
Podcast Index MCP server and CLI for Claude Code, Codex and AI agents. 36 tools for podcast search, episode transcripts you can actually read and search, Podcasting 2.0 tags, value-for-value data, feed health and index stats.

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 2.0.1, the file with digest sha512-wN19mw853y8jzMu8SKat7ahyfyekTbiN8UfG6KbFY/PbryCySyw8scckOM8tnTvxhb+njiCcbFAQaYI1GV1e5w==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
