MCP Alpaca
pipeworx · MCP server
Connects an AI assistant to the Alpaca Market Data API for US stocks. It returns a snapshot with the latest trade, bid and ask quote, today's price range and volume and the change from the previous close, historical bars with per-bar VWAP and trade count, and a current-session VWAP check that includes pre-market trading. Each call takes up to 20 symbols from the real-time IEX feed. You bring your own Alpaca key from a free account, and it can run on your machine or through the hosted Pipeworx gateway.

Why it's useful
Your assistant can answer questions about current and past US stock prices, including before and after market hours.
What you could do with it
- Ask for a stock's pre-market price, overnight change and after-hours volume and range.
- Fetch 5-minute bars for a symbol over the last day, with VWAP and trade count for each bar.
- Check in one call whether several symbols trade above or below their current session VWAP.
Written from its documentation: what it says it can do, not what our checks found.
Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 0.1.1, the file with digest sha512-xGEhF+t3N9uWaQuxjzdsz4dlJfJ2nw28NqJuCyog8AxKuHQCOFlsLW/r3LHCV6MWt8Ht33P8E5FkQXw44AVCqQ==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
