Verification records what our published tests found on a specific version at a specific date. It is not a warranty, and it does not certify that software is free of defects.

Re-verification

Running the rubric again, because the version changed, the rubric changed or the badge expired.

Three things trigger it: a new version of the listing, a new version of the rubric, or the expiry on the existing badge. Permission changes trigger it immediately and also block sales until it completes.

Re-verifying an unchanged artefact is cheap and mostly automatic. The expiry exists so that the date on a badge always means something.

Why it matters

Dependency advisories are published continuously, so a clean result is a statement about a date rather than about a product.

The mistake everyone makes

Assuming a badge with no expiry date is a stronger claim. It is a weaker one.
