Dsh Web Search Exa
tonydua · MCP server
Dsh Web Search Exa is a web search provider plugin for DeepSeek Harness. It plugs into the harness web seam, so the model-facing web search and web fetch tools stay as they are, and it works with no key by calling the public Exa MCP server, which is rate-limited. Setting an Exa API key switches it to the Exa REST search, without that limit. After three failures in a row on the keyless route it marks itself unavailable for five minutes so the harness can pick another provider.

Why it's useful
Your harness can search the web through Exa without a key, and move to another provider when the keyless route fails repeatedly.
What you could do with it
- Give DeepSeek Harness web search without setting up an API key, with results that carry highlight snippets.
- Add an Exa API key so searches move from the keyless route to the Exa REST search.
- Leave the search provider unpinned so the harness falls back to another provider while this one is cooling down.

Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured

In its maker's words
Zero-config Exa web search provider for DeepSeek Harness (dsh): keyless anonymous MCP fallback (mcp.exa.ai/mcp) plus keyed REST search — a drop-in WebSearchProvider for the ctx.web seam, no API key required.

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 0.2.2, the file with digest sha512-KausZtRvC88JN6Tc5sCS899XZO811QwyxwiDuwoPeuJ2lEjagNWow5x9wal0N8y0We/4KGCfcHhgqQxlTKXGbQ==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
Adding it
This one installs no executable, so there is nothing to run. It is a library you import into your own process. Add it with npm i @tonydua/dsh-web-search-exa@0.2.2 and call it from your code.

No build provenance published. The repository above is the one the publisher declared, and nothing links it to the package you would install. That is not a mark against this listing, since most packages are published this way, but it is a check nobody can run.
