Splitwise MCP
chrischall · MCP server
Splitwise MCP connects your AI assistant to your Splitwise account for expenses, groups, friends and balances. You can ask what you owe, add, edit or delete expenses, split a bill unevenly, add people to groups, and restore deleted expenses or groups. Writes notify other people, so each one asks for your confirmation first, as a prompt or as a preview and token step. A Splitwise account and API key are required, for personal, non-commercial use. Its maker notes that Claude Code wrote and maintains the code and that no person has audited it.

Why it's useful
Splitwise expenses and balances can be handled by asking, with a confirmation step before anything that notifies other people.
What you could do with it
- Ask what you owe, or who is in the trip group, and get the answer from your Splitwise balances.
- Add a dinner expense to the vacation group, or split a hotel bill 60/40 with a friend.
- Delete a duplicate expense, or download the receipt attached to a hotel expense.
Written from its documentation: what it says it can do, not what our checks found.
Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured
What this does not cover
- Everything. Treat it as you would software from anywhere else.

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 3.3.1, the file with digest sha512-S2qaNCIbi0j9wDz6UrazohY1hXI/I09n7M5ndgc7gOreEH2ZoYU1wleJUOcH5CEjAdiHtZr3MB8F/Dki4u5T/Q==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
