Catalogue/MCP servers/Oclif Plugin MCP Server

Oclif Plugin MCP Server

npjonath · MCP server

Makes the commands of an oclif command line tool available to AI assistants through the Model Context Protocol, finding them automatically. Arguments and flags become typed schemas, and the plugin also serves resources and reusable prompt templates. It can run over HTTP with server-sent events, sessions and OAuth 2.1 authorisation, and you can keep a command out of MCP, set a custom tool name or cap the number of tools. It suits developers who want their own CLI usable from an AI assistant.

Written by ooruby from the README of oclif-plugin-mcp-server 0.7.1.

Why it's useful

Your existing oclif commands become usable from an AI assistant without you writing a separate MCP server for them.

What you could do with it

  1. 1Add the plugin to your oclif CLI so an assistant can discover and run its commands as tools.
  2. 2Keep a sensitive command out of MCP by disabling it on that command.
  3. 3Set a maximum number of exposed tools for AI clients that limit how many they can handle.

Maintenance

Not measured

No release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.

Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured

Not yet tested

How far this has been checked

Static scanned

What it establishes
Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
What it does not
How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
Exactly what was read
Version 0.7.1, the file with digest sha512-13T03qJxLt/26i5SXbRigEaxS1ri1DQniGiqX6qSg+xsLZbhb9/IK8YZ2QzvbfJ9GINod53kbd49WKW5OChtAg==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
Authentication
Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
How the rungs work

Adding it

This one installs no executable, so there is nothing to run. It is a library you import into your own process. Add it with npm i oclif-plugin-mcp-server@0.7.1 and call it from your code.

No build provenance published. The repository above is the one the publisher declared, and nothing links it to the package you would install. That is not a mark against this listing, since most packages are published this way, but it is a check nobody can run.

The badge, if this is your listing

It renders the current rung (static scanned) and links back here, where what that does and does not establish is one click away. It updates itself as the evidence deepens.
