MCP Zotero
docsagent · MCP server
DocsAgent MCP connects an AI agent to your personal knowledge base: a Zotero library with its items, annotations and notes, an Obsidian vault, and Apple Notes on macOS. A resident native C++ search core runs on your machine and offers BM25 full-text search, passage retrieval and a mixed search across all three sources. Eight tools split into five read and three write; the write tools import papers, add notes and bulk-edit collections and tags, and apply to Zotero only.

Why it's useful
Your agent can search the papers, annotations and notes you already keep, and edits to Zotero stay off until you enable them.
What you could do with it
- Search one source or all three at once and have your agent read the most relevant passages.
- Ask your agent to import a paper by DOI, ISBN or arXiv ID into Zotero after previewing the change.
- Have your agent add a Markdown note to a Zotero item or tag many items at once.
Written from its documentation: what it says it can do, not what our checks found.
Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured
What this does not cover
- Everything. Treat it as you would software from anywhere else.
Receipt history: every signed receipt for every version of this listing, and what changed between them.

Indexed
- What it establishes
- It exists, we found it, and its source resolves to a real place.
- What it does not
- Nothing else. Nobody has read it, run it, or checked who wrote it. Treat it exactly as you would a repository you found yourself.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
Not read, deliberately. The published package is 67 MB, above the size this scanner reads. Raising the limit would mean reporting a clean scan of a few source files sitting beside a great deal of compiled code nobody here has looked at, which is a worse answer than this one.

No build provenance published. The repository above is the one the publisher declared, and nothing links it to the package you would install. That is not a mark against this listing, since most packages are published this way, but it is a check nobody can run.
The badge, if this is your listing
It renders the current rung (indexed) and links back here, where what that does and does not establish is one click away. It updates itself as the evidence deepens.
