Adds Storybook component and story documentation tools to an MCP server you run yourself.
Tincan
brutalsystems · MCP server
Tincan lets coding agents that are already running on your machine send each other messages. It runs as an MCP server inside each Claude Code or Codex session, with a small extra plugin for opencode, and gives them tools to list the other sessions, send a message to one of them and read a log of what was sent. It works on one machine only and has no network listener. Reaching Codex sessions needs the Codex command line on your path. It suits people who keep several coding agent sessions open and act as the go-between.

Why it's useful
You stop being the message bus between coding agents that are each deep in a different part of your work.
What you could do with it
- Let one agent ask the session that holds the relevant code a question and get the answer back in its own turn.
- Send a message from a shell script or cron job to a running agent, for example to say that staging is green.
- List the other agent sessions running on your machine and check what state each one is in.
Written from its documentation: what it says it can do, not what our checks found.
Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured
What this does not cover
- Everything. Treat it as you would software from anywhere else.
Receipt history: every signed receipt for every version of this listing, and what changed between them.
In its maker's words
Peer messaging between a live Claude Code session and a live Codex session on the same machine. One MCP server, run inside each.

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 2.4.1, the file with digest sha512-m+7g5h2akkKv330BleF3HtbEczMJ/Bozo019AuSnz0dE+5iea88z1CahmVfYN88AWKCagUUGUuyNxxxxpFtyNQ==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
