Block No Verify
tupe12334 · Agent
Block No Verify is a command line check that your coding agent runs before a shell command or tool call. It refuses git commit, push, merge, cherry-pick, rebase and am when they carry the no-verify flag, refuses overrides of the hooks path, and blocks GitHub MCP tools that write files or merge pull requests through the API, which skip local hooks. It suits anyone whose pre-commit or pre-push hooks run tests or linting.

Why it's useful
Coding agents can sidestep pre-commit and pre-push hooks in several ways, and this blocks the common ones before the command runs.
What you could do with it
- Add it as a hook in your coding agent so commit commands carrying the no-verify flag are refused.
- Stop your agent from pushing files straight to GitHub through MCP tools that skip local hooks.
- Keep read-only GitHub tools available to your agent while the write tools that skip hooks are blocked.

Maintenance
Not measuredNo release date is on record for this package yet. The nightly publisher check records one as it reaches each npm package, about once every ten nights.
Release activity only: it says nothing about quality or safety, and a finished small package can be fine without releases. How it is measured

Published because it was found. A finding is information about where the limits are, not a verdict that the software is unsafe.

In its maker's words
CLI tool to block --no-verify flag in git commands. Prevents AI agents from bypassing git hooks.

Static scanned
- What it establishes
- Its published package, or for a hosted server its source repository at a recorded commit, was read file by file, without running it, by every check in our current scan.
- What it does not
- How it behaves when it runs, or anything the scan does not read yet: several rubric checks, the repository's history, and compiled code in folders named dist or build. For a hosted server, that the endpoint runs the code that was read. The ooruby Index sets out exactly what was read.
- Exactly what was read
- Version 1.3.0, the file with digest sha512-pUEt/KwRe2Uu5abvSZwaA8J6FCcNqjy+IebPW6DAgag81NmqUnCxd63ueivAa8L3f1bYL0dMXJ9WgJ2uyg1ZvA==, as the registry publishes it. A published version cannot be replaced, so this names the same bytes for anyone who checks.
- Authentication
- Runs locally. No hosted endpoint is listed for this package. You run it on your own machine, so there is no endpoint of ours to authenticate against.
